Local Events and Activities

Apart from our meetings each month, the Club is involved in supporting local groups, collaborating in public events, organising field trips and each summer we hold a market stall.

SUMMER OF ASTRONOMY For latest dates on activities during June and July 2025.

Support for groups

If you are a local group (scouts, round table, schools etc) and you would like us to help with star gazing opportunities then please contact us.

Exhibitions

We have worked with the East Riding Library Service and Beverley Guildhall to put on astronomy exhibitions at the Treasure House and the Guildhall.

Our Treasure House exhibition was a huge success, as was the Guildhall’s exhibition on astronomy.

Market stalls

Our next Beverley market stall will be in July, Saturday 26th July from 0900hrs.

The annual Saturday Market event in Beverley is an opportunity for us to meet members of the public.

National Astronomy Week 2025

National Astronomy Week 2025 saw ERA working with other local clubs (HERAS and BLAS) to organise stargazing in Grandad’s Park in Cottingham.

We also put on an exhibition at the nearby Civic Hall.

Light Pollution

We have been highly supportive of East Riding Council’s Live Labs 2 initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of highway lighting.  Here you can see Club members stargazing alongside a main road now that the streetlights are no longer used.

Improved highway lighting reduces light pollution
Pavement astronomy in Beverley

Our pavement astronomy event in Beverley was an opportunity for members of the public and passersby to have a go at stargazing.

The Village Hall is an ideal venue to host your group.  In 2024 we were happy to welcome our local Round Table to the Hall for a few hours of star gazing.  The parade of planets was in full view.

All are welcome at the Village Hall
