Club members observing one night ouside the village hall at Woodmansey

East Riding Astronomers (ERA) is a friendly and informal astronomy club and our main purpose is to observe the night sky and to help others get into this absorbing hobby.

In 2018 we moved from central Beverley to our current site at Woodmansey Village Hall where we enjoy much darker skies as well as a larger car park.

We usually meet once a month, on the first Monday, at the Village Hall. Our meetings start at 7:30pm but we usually start to gather around 6:30 so please come early.

If the sky is clear for observing then we like to get outside as quickly as possible.

If observing is not possible then we'll talk about astronomy, look at equipment etc.

If you have a problem with equipment or need advice on observing then we are delighted to help, simply bring your problem to us. We will also advise on what kinds of equipment you may want to buy as a new astronomer.

As a club we have also kept in touch with weekly Zoom meetings each Monday from 7.30 until 9.00.

If you would like to find out more about the club then please contact the Secretary or simply come along to one of our meetings at the Hall.

Your first meeting as a guest is free, but you may wish to bring 50p for the refeshments collection, and a £1 for the raffle. The usual visitor/guest fee is £3, while membership for a full year is £20. We do have a family rate for membership.
