This is our third year of appearing in Beverley market to talk to members of the public, raise the profile of astronomy and our club, and even perhaps sign up some new members.
This year we were on the Charity Stall, between the Green Dragon pub and the Natwest bank.
We made good use of the graphics boards we inherited from the Treasure House exhibition, and had five telescopes on display, plus books, magazines to give away and copies of our 2023/24 Programme.
The stall was busy for most of the day with visitors and enquirers. A number of enquirers were parents/grandparents of young children with recent gifts of telescopes, several individuals thinking about getting back into the hobby, and two radio astronomers - one from Hull University and the other from Jodrell Bank.
The weather was mostly fine and we managed to observe sunspots and prominences using the solarscope.
The stall was staffed from 0800 (setting up time) until 1600hrs.
8.5/10 was the score given to the day.
