Club Monthly Meeting – August 4th 2025

Our first meeting after the summer break was very well attended by members and new faces.

Although the forecast was for clearing skies, the high winds and extended twilight made it unlikely that we would have an observing session on the night.

We used this as an opportunity to bring out all of the Club telescopes for members to look over, all but the TS20 which stayed snug in it’s usual berth.

Members and guests spent most of the evening (7:30 until around 9:30) in conversation, examining the various telescopes (see this list) and mounts, enjoying a hot beverage and the raffle.

Some members stayed on after 9:30 and enjoyed the darkening skies observing the moon and some of the southern sky sights.

Some Club scopes – 8″ SCTs

Some of the more complicated telescopes/mounts are only available to members to use during Club meetings, such as these three 8″ SCTs.

Some other Club scopes

Several Club telescopes are available to borrow from one meeting to the next.  These range from our 60mm Coronado solar scope to our 250mm Dobsonian Mounted Newtonian Telescope.

There is a lending fee of £5 per telescope pre period.  Telescopes are only available for loan to full Club members.

To arrange to borrow a telescope simply contact a committee member.
