Collimating a Newtonian telescope:

 

  • Using a laser collimator: 
  1. Adjust the secondary mirror so the lasar dot hits the centre of the paper donut on the primary mirror.
  2. Adjust the primary mirror so that the reflected laser dot hits the centre of the laser collimator target.

Aligning your laser collimator.

Many laser collimators are a little out of alignment, even the expensive ones.
