Lunar observing session – 1st June 2024

A small session attended by 4 members

Lee, Sean, Phil and Mark met at the Village Hall around 9pm for a session observing the 5 day old moon.

A clear night with very little cloud gave great views of the crescent moon using a variety of telescopes.

Our 6″ and 10″ Dobsonian mounted Newtonian telescopes were in action after a brief collimation, as was Kepler (8″ Meade) and a 100mm F9 refractor on a newly commissioned EQ3 mount (thanks to BLAS for the tripod legs).

As Phil and Mark also brought along scopes we had 6 telescopes to share amongst 4 observers.

Observing continued until after 2330 with Mark providing a tour of the night sky courtesy of his C9.5″ scope.

A fun and successful night’s observing.  We may repeat this later this week if the weather is kind and members are interested.
