National Astronomy Week 2025
A week of activities by ERA, HERAS and BLAS that culminated (for us) in a joint public event in Cottingham on Thursday 6th February 2025.
The three East Riding Astronomy Clubs came together on the 6th to hold a public observing session in Grandad’s Park in Cottingham, as well as displays and exhibition in the nearby Civic Hall.
The attendance by the public was much more than anticipated , so much so that we were desperate for more telescopes to help reduce the queues!
The exhibition was also well attended and ERA made good use of the graphics from both the Treasure House and the Beverley Guildhall exhibitions.
Radio Humberside’s Kofi Smiles was onsite to interview Club members and their interviews were broadcast the next week as part of his “class of the week” programme..
National Astronomy Week is not an annual event. The previous NAW took place in 2020 just two weeks before the Covid19 lockdown.
